Three reasons why you should get your boy to choose and wrap his own presents this year. The first one is Mastering and independence. The foundation That didn't work. Why don't we try something else? The first one is mastery in independence. It's the foundation of self-worth. Gift-giving is a fundamental part of our culture. And it's astounding how many men don't actually know how to do it. They don't know how to empathise and actually really think about what another person would like as a present, and they don't know how to wrap it. Number two is to protect their future relationships. Now, I think most women know what it feels like when a man in our life does not put the same level of thought and consideration and love and time and effort into a gift for us that we have given to them, and it can be really hurtful. And it can affect our relationship. So don't let your boy be inadvertently hurtful just because he doesn't have the skills a gift giving. And the third one is about his own well-being. It feels good to give. It feels good to do something nice for someone. And when our boys don't understand how to give gifts. they are missing out on the life affirming benefits and good feelings of being a giver.
